TAI CHI CHUAN is the “jewel of Chinese martial arts.” An ancient system of self-defense, tai chi is practiced in a slow, relaxed manner. It relieves stress, improves circulation and concentration and is very beneficial to overall physical and mental health. It is suitable for anyone from teenagers to seniors, in various states of fitness, as long as they are able to stand for an hour.
CHI KUNG is a Chinese system of self-healing based on the Taoist principles of yin and yang. It utilizes breathing techniques coordinated with body movements to improve circulation. This promotes improved balance, internal cleansing, and healing throughout the entire body. Chi kung is truly exercise for everyone! It can be done by anyone from teenagers to seniors, regardless of age or physical condition.
WU STYLE TAI CHI CHUAN is an ongoing, progressive class for people interested in a deep study of tai chi. Beginning students learn the Wu Style 108 Slow Form. Advanced students learn the Fast Form, then the Two Man Form. Class begins with either 1/2 hour of chi kung (see description above) or push hands, a 2 person sensitivity exercise for learning the applications of the form movements while learning to control the different energies used in tai chi.
CHI KUNG & ELEMENTS of YANG STYLE TAI CHI is for students at any level who wish to concentrate on basics, with emphasis on coordination, relaxation and balance. Class begins with 1/2 hour of chi kung (see description above). The remaining time is devoted to learning elements of tai chi based on the Simplified Yang 24 form.
