Pickleball Paddle and Ball
Join us Saturday, June 3rd for the Sharon Recreation Pickleball Tournament sponsored by The Needle Group! The tournament will be held at the Deborah Sampson Pickleball Courts

2.0-3.5 players: 11:00am-2:30pm
3.5+ players: 3:00pm-6:00pm

Rain date June 10th. This is a round robin tournament and the registration fee is $40 per person. Please note no refunds will be given after 5/30. 






















1. Sign up as an Individual. You will be randomly assigned a partner (and partners will change throughout).


2. Make sure to bring a paddle, water and a snack as you will be playing at least 9 games!


3. Please put the ratings system on the website (see below).


 


If you do not know your rating:


2.5 Rating: This player has limited experience. Can sustain a short rally with players of equal ability. Basic ability to keep score.


3.0 Rating: Ability to hit medium paced forehands, backhands and volleys but lacks directional intent and consistency. Can dink but cannot sustain a dink rally. Understands fundamentals. Is learning proper court positioning. Knows the fundamental rules and can keep score.


3.5 Rating: Ability to hit medium forehand, backhand and volleys with some directional intent and consistency. Consistently gets serve/return in play with limited ability. Has dink shot with some control and short rallys. Moves quickly towards the non-volley zone (NVZ) when opportunity is there. Acknowledges the difference between hard game and soft game and is starting to vary own game. Is learning proper court positioning. Basic knowledge of stacking and understanding situations where it can be effective.


4.0 Rating: Ability to hit forehand, backhand and volleys with depth and control. Still perfecting shot selection and timing. Dinks are consistent and understands the difference between attackable balls and not. Aware of partner’s position on the court and is able to move as a team. Demonstrates ability to change direction in an offensive manner. Demonstrates a broad knowledge of the rules of the game. Has a moderate number of unforced errors per game. Solid understanding of stacking and when and how it could be used in match play. Beginning to identify opponents weaknesses and attempts to formulate a game plan to attack weaknesses.
