Register to participate in the 3rd Annual Sharon Chalk Art Festival! Join us at Sharon Town Hall on Sunday, May 31, 2026, from 9am to 1pm for a day filled with creativity and community spirit.
Registration guarantees a space for competing participants. Walk-on participants are welcome on the day of the event, subject to availability.
Whether you're planning to create chalk art or simply come to enjoy the event, there will be something for everyone. In addition to watching artists at work, spectators can enjoy food trucks, music, and family-friendly activities throughout the morning. There will also be a community chalk space where anyone not competing can still grab some chalk and join in the fun.

Registration Information
Registration: Open call for participants to sign up using the Register link above. Groups are encouraged to work together. Only the primary participant needs to register to reserve a space, even if multiple people will be helping create the artwork.
Age Requirement: All ages are welcome. Please select your category upon registration.
Cost: Free to participate.
Spaces: Each participating individual or group will be allocated a parking spot to serve as their designated art space. These spots are approximately 20 feet long by 9 feet wide. Participants may begin creating their artwork starting at 9am on the morning of the event. If additional time is needed, we may be able to accommodate requests, subject to approval on a case-by-case basis.
Chalk: Sidewalk chalk and pastel chalk in a variety of colors will be provided. Water will be available to support your creative process. Participants are also welcome to bring their own artist supplies (see below for recommendations). No oil-based pastels, wax-based materials, or other non-water soluble media are allowed due to cleanup and environmental concerns.
Awards & Prizes
Winners will be selected by a panel of jurors. Each participant category will include 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place awards, along with Honorable Mention, with prizes consisting of a mix of cash and gift cards made possible through the support of our generous community sponsors. Prize amounts will be announced closer to the date of the event.
This updated awards structure reflects feedback from last year and is designed to create a more balanced playing field for all participants, from seasoned artists to enthusiastic young creators.
Participants are welcome to have friends or family assist with their artwork. However, the registered participant or group should reflect the primary artist or qualifying category in the spirit of fair competition.
Participant Categories: Please review the categories below and select during registration the one that best fits you or your group.
  • Youth Artist
    This category is for artists ages 18 and under who are creating their own chalk artwork. (i.e. a child working alone or kids working together)
  • Family / Team Collaboration
    This category is for families or groups that include participants of different ages (youth and adults together) creating a shared chalk artwork.(i.e. family groups or mixed-age groups)
  • Adult Artist
    This category is for individual or group adult participants (19+) who are not working as professional artists. (i.e. adult hobbyists or group of adults)
  • Professional Artist
    This category is for professional artists recognizing exceptional artistic achievement and the skilled use of chalk in the entry. (i.e. artists who sell their work, receive commissions, or participate in exhibitions)
Additional Information
Parking: Parking is available along Bradford Avenue and in nearby public areas. We kindly ask participants to park a bit farther from the event space to help leave closer spots for spectators. You're welcome to pull up near Town Hall briefly to drop off supplies before finding parking.
Weather Contingency: The event may be cancelled due to rain or severe weather. We will update registrants via email with updates.
Public Viewing: Members of the public are encouraged to stop by, watch the artists at work, enjoy food trucks, music, and family-friendly activities, or relax and picnic on the Town Hall lawn.
Recommended Things to Bring (for Participants):
  • Sunblock, hat, handheld umbrellas, and drinking water
  • Knee pads, gardening pads, cardboard, towel, or camp chair for comfort
  • Paint brushes, cups, and spray bottles for blending chalk with water
  • Chalkboard erasers, pool noodles, and carpet squares for blending dry chalk
  • Yard stick, measuring tape, and chalk line if using a grid to create your art
  • Duct tape or painters tape to mark out your space
  • Wet wipes, nitrile gloves, and finger cots to keep hands clean
  • Small containers or buckets to hold chalk or water
  • Reference photos for your artwork
  • Extra chalk if using a predominant color in your art
  • Snacks or money to visit food vendors
Event Participation Guidelines
Chalk art spaces are intended for individual artists, families, and community participants. Spaces may not be reserved by businesses or organizations for promotional purposes, including setting up booths, advertising services, or displaying branded marketing materials. Businesses and organizations interested in participating are encouraged to reach out about becoming an event sponsor.
To help maintain a welcoming and family-friendly environment, we reserve the right to ask participants to modify or remove artwork or materials that are promotional in nature, overtly political, inflammatory, or otherwise inconsistent with the spirit of the event. Participants who do not comply may be asked to leave the event area.
